Panama Trip - Day 5

Today we checked out of our hotel and left Panama City and headed for Gamboa and the tropical rain forest. We arrived at our new hotel around 1:30. Again, it was beautiful. A few pictures of it.

A view from our room looking onto the Chagres River

A view from our room looking at the lobby of the hotel and up the river.

A view from our room looking out onto the patio.

We made arrangments for a tour a little later in the afternoon and then went to have lunch.

The tour that we took was a river boat tour up the Panama Canal to a place called Monkey Island. We boarded the bus in front of the hotel.

They took us to the river where we got ready for the boatride. She Lori and Doug looking so ready for the ride.

We saw lots of wildlife on the cruise. We saw Egret.

We saw crocodiles

We saw turtles.

We saw trees full of howler monkeys.

We saw Three-Toed Slothes

But perhaps the most fun of all were the Capuchin Monkeys. They are white faced and very playful. Here you see three of them up in a tree.

But what was really fun was that they would jump into the boat. One of them had a baby on her back. There were very playful.

This was a great little trip. We had a lot of fun. We went back to the hotel, visited for a while, had a snack and called it a day.
